LIVERPOOL, Liverpool announced that the London court rejected the request Tom Hicks and George Gillett, a court order delaying the process of selling their clubs from the New England Sports Ventures (NESV) because there are indications of fraud
. The court asked Hicks-Gillett pulled the lawsuit on Friday (15/10/2010) prior to 16:00 local time.
"Independent Director Liverpool unhappy with the decision (the judge), Justice Floyd in the high court on this afternoon (Thursday, 14/10/2010) who asked Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett pulled the Texas court order at 16.00 tomorrow (Friday)," according to Liverpool statement.
"We're happy because it made one more important step towards the completion of the acquisition," continued the statement.
According to reports in the UK, directors should decide the acquisition Liverpool on 5 October, with NESV as the most promising candidates. However, the Hicks-Gillett claimed to have been tripped by changing the composition of the board of directors and new directors refused to sell the club.
Chairman Martin Broughton Liverpool against the decision saying he was the only person entitled to change the composition of the board. To get the legal certainty, Broughton Hicks-Gillett sued to court.
Court of Broughton et al won the lawsuit on Wednesday (13/10/2010). However, the Hicks-Gillett re trying to scuttle it by requesting, obtaining, and using a warrant from the court delay the acquisition of Texas.
